Sights and attractions
In Sokndal you will find many lovely sights and attractions. You will experience plenty both by our challenging coast as well as on our beautiful inland moors. Our geology is unique with about 930 million years old montains and fertile valleys.
Sight and attractions you wil find different places: The centre of Hauge, our rocking boulder, the church in Sokndal, Åna Sira, Helleren, Jøssingfjord, Linepollen,
Blåfjell, our salmon river Sokna, Sogndalstrand, Rekefjord and Nesvåg.

Picturesque Nesvåg in beautiful surroundings on the coast. A snug harbour with protected old boat houses. The boat houses at Nesvåg received a prize in 1999 from the Early Historical Society. Nesvåg Sea and Fishing Boat Motor Museum.
Åve i Rekefjord
Rekefjord. The old protected wooden houses in Åve. The warehouse on the old steamship quay is being restored.Long traditions with fishing and coast culture.

Sogndalstrandthe Røros of the coast-an old settlement with wooden houses from 1700 and 1800s, the whole area is being considered protected by law. Many attractions: A cultural hotel, a café, a country store, handicraft shops, a gallery, antiques /a second-hand shop, a visitors`quay, the salmon river Sokna, the fishing museum and much more. Both the old ( 1884 ) and the new ( 1999 ) arched stone bridges across the salmon river Sokna from Sogndalstrand to Åros.

Hauge i Dalane the administrative centre of the municipality. A cafeteria, a bank, a post office, doctors`offices, a police office, wellstocked stores, old writing symbols painted and carved on stones, the salmon river Sokna, art and handicraft shops and much more.

The church in Sokndal is from 1803 with a pulpit and an altar piece from the 1600s.The cross-church is in LouisXVI style. A new organ was consecrated in 1995

An old outhouse at Barstad shows an old building technique. The walls are made of braided birch twigs. This made for good ventilation for dried hay.
Linepollen
Linepollen our swimming place is at Åmodt. Parking lot and toilets
Ruggesteinen
The rocking boulder Northern Europe's largest movable boulder weighs about 74 tons and is situated at Åmodt. It was protected by law in 1923.
Blåfjell Gruver
Blåfjelldalen with closed down mines, which were in use from 1864 to 1876.

Helleren a dwelling site from the Stone Age. 2 houses from 1700s are situated under a
precipice. One of Kjell Aukrust's characters, Mysil Bergsprekken, is said to have been born during a rock slide in Jøssingfjorden in 1917 according to the memorial plaque on the path leading to the houses at Helleren.
Vinterstø
The Jøssingfjord is known from the Altmark ?affair during World War II. The first act of war on Norwegian territory during World War II on Feb. 16th, 1940.
Åna-Sira Kraftstasjon
The Åna-Sira power station Free guided tours during work hours from 7 A.M. to 3 P.M. This power station is the main station for the Sira watercourse.
